The Ingredients

  • 240 ml mayonnaise
  • 30 grams finely chopped dill pickles or sweet pickles
  • 15 grams capers, drained and chopped
  • 15 ml fresh lemon juice
  • 5 grams finely chopped fresh parsley
  • .5 ml Dijon mustard
  • 5 ml finely chopped onion (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

The Method

  • In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, chopped pickles, capers, lemon juice, parsley, mustard, and optional chopped onion.
  • Stir the ingredients together until well combined.
  • Taste the tartar sauce and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper according to your preference.
  • Transfer the tartar sauce to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  • Serve the tartar sauce chilled as a delicious accompaniment to fried fish, shrimp, crab cakes, or other seafood dishes.
